Kids Glen Perkins Jersey Giveaway
The Twins have been declining the past few years going 66-96 in both 2013 and 2012 and going 63-99 in 2011. While it might not be a surprise their attendance has also gone down about 300,000 each year even though they have one of the best stadiums. Minnesota is hosting the All Star game this year so it will be interesting if the attendance increases due to various activities and promotions centered towards the All Star Game. The Twins would hope that more than one player would make the all star team. One hopeful is Glen Perkins, who was in it last year. He’s recorded seventeen saves in twenty nine games played. His ERA is up from 2.30 to 2.76 but is nothing to serious. I honestly have not heard of him until now but other people on the staff have. I would assume that he is more of a local name than a national name.
The jersey isn’t quite perfect. First it’s not the home jersey, an away jersey, or an alternate jersey but rather a batting practice jersey. It’s not even the regular batting practice jersey it is the alternate batting practice jersey. So the chances of kids actually knowing what jersey it actually is unlikely. Nonetheless it’s still cool to get a jersey as a kid. Here is the actual jersey. Pretty nice clean and simple. There are some big discrepancies though between that jersey and the one being handed out at the gates. First the collar. The actual jersey is a red color with a blue stripe down the middle and extending only to the shoulders. The giveaway is a full blue front collar. They do get the extending only half way part correct. The next are the side striping. The actual jersey has blue fabric in the arm pit area while the giveaway has a blue stripe all the way down the side and also not from the armpit to the sleeve. The blue arm band is also too thick in comparison to the actual jersey. The font is spot on. There is an advertisement and it does pop out on the right sleeve, no bueno. It’s a good attempt but I feel like the Twins could have done a better job. I think they could have done a better job with most of their promotions this year.
Note: Advertisement Presence is how much room the advertisement takes up on the promotion. A perfect score (100) is a result of no advertisements on the promotions. A zero is a result of a promotion with only ads and nothing else.
