Mets Toy Truck

mets-toy-truckThis Mets toy truck is sponsored by W.B. Mason. They were founded in 1898 by William Betts Mason in Brockton, Massachusetts and sold printing, engraved equipment and rubber stamps.  Soon after they added a wide variety of office supplies. W.B. Mason continues to supply office products throughout the county. They are the “Official Office Product Supplier” to the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees and New York Mets. It also has its corporate logo prominently displayed in all four team’s home ballpark. They also have a sponsorship with Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and the MGM Grand Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut.

Due to the sponsorship with the Yankees and Phillies this Mets toy truck isn’t the only toy truck given away. While all are  unique because of the team’s logo on the hood and door, they all share the side of the truck. The side of the truck features W.B. Mason’s primary logo on the yellow background. They did a good job making it look like the actual trucks used to transport supplies. The key differences include the exclusion of the team logo on the bottom back corner and the inclusion of the team logos on the hood and doors. I do like the idea of a truck giveaway but this is too commercial. It’s just W.B. Mason giving out their own promotion instead of the Mets. Instead of the sides featuring the Mets’ logo and the door and hood featuring the W.B. Mason’s logo it’s the complete opposite. In a sense it’s a W.B. Mason giveaway sponsored by the New York Mets.
