Age: All Ages
Tom Brunansky played for the Cardinals, Angles, Red Sox, Brewers and most notably the Minnesota Twins. In 1985 he was elected to the All Star game which was held in Minnesota. Although he didn’t have a “great” year he put up a .242 batting average with 90 runs batted in and 27 home runs. Yes, I know it’s not great but it also isn’t terrible. It’s fitting that the Twins are honoring Brunansky with a bobblehead as they are hosting the All Star Game. I being somewhat obsessive compulsive wish the Twins could have made a deal to host and giveaway this bobblehead in 2015. Yes I do know that the National and American leagues rotate but couldn’t they make one exception. I think it would have been nice if it was a standard 40 years not 39. But again that’s just my obsessive compulsiveness.
The first observation is the size of the bobblehead. It’s made to look like an old bobblehead, at least that’s my impression. Of course the details aren’t going to be the same, but it’s also going for the retro feel so I’ll be less harsh on grading the details. So looking through 1985 pictures of the Minnesota Twins I have yet to find a white jersey. All I’ve seen are powder blue and navy blue jerseys. Finally found a white jersey. The striping scheme both match up, although the jersey has a bit of fatter stripes. Also on the white jersey there is a left sleeve patch. I don’t know if the bobblehead has the patch so that’s a knock. The stirrups are a great addition! The hat is color correct. Now you’d expect me to complain how he’s not in a batting or some sort of stance. Well you’d be right but it’s a retro bobblehead so all pretty much came in that same exact position. I definitely dig this promotion. It would be even better if you went to that throwback jersey giveaway game. I’d say this is one of the best Twins promotions all year especially because of the other lackluster ones.
